February 15, 2008: Region VI Premedical Conference

Region VI, Inc. will be hosting their 1st Annual Premedical Conference at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine on Saturday, February 23, 2008.  This year’s conference will include presentations from the admissions and financial aid offices, panel discussions with local college advisors and medical/graduate students, mock interviews, the MCAT, workshops on summer opportunities, and a premedical forum with representatives from medical schools and other institutions.

January 11, 2008: Winter Regional Meeting & Clinical Skills Bootcamp

The Region VI Winter Meeting and Clinical Skills Bootcamp will take place Saturday, February 9, 2008 at the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville, VA.

October 14, 2007: Region VI Conference & Fall Regional Meeting

The Region VI Annual Conference will take place Saturday, December 1, 2007 at Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, DC.  The Fall Regional Meeting will follow on Sunday, December 2, 2007.

The conference theme "Awareness and Involvement in Disparities as Students: Cultural Competence and Serving the Underserved" will include medical and premedical student workshops.  Featured weekend speakers include Howard University College of Medicine alum Dr. Robert Williams and Dr. David Malebranche of Emory University.  Community service projects include HIV testing and counseling, voter registration, and involvement of the young men in the BASE program.

September 15, 2007: September National Leadership Institute & Board of Directors Meeting

The September National Leadership Institute & Board of Directors Meetings will take place September 28-30, 2007 at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD.

The NLI/BOD will provide SNMA's national officers, regional and local chapter representatives, and pre-medical students with
opportunities for networking and career development.  Hosts of this year's NLI include the Departments of Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Psychiatry from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
