Region VIII ActivitiesJuly 12, 2009: University of Pittsburgh- MAPS - Project InsightDear Wonderful Region 8, As you saw in last month's President's Newsletter, SNMA is currently accepting submissions for Project Insight, a photovoice project aimed at capturing the essence of health inequities across our nation. As you know, the problems facing underserved communities in Region 8 are unique, complex, and can no longer be ignored. We need YOUR help to tell their stories! With your cameras, we will ultimately give voice to the communities across the nation that are served by SNMA members. Through SNMA's engagement in Project Insight, we plan to seize the opportunity to advocate for our communities while our policymakers focus on reforming American healthcare in our SNMA March for Health Equity taking place in Montgomery, Alabama from September 4-7, 2009. Please forward this message to your ENTIRE chapter, as well as your colleagues at other schools in the Region 8 area. Even if you are not interested, taking one minute to send it onward can make a huge difference in the success of the SNMA March for Health Equity. After all, you never know whose lens will capture the image that becomes the face of our campaign for health equity. Please find out more about the greater initiative, SNMA March for Health Equity, by watching this informative and inspirational video at www.vimeo.com/5403534 . Also, attached is an example from U of Pittsburgh showing how SIMPLE, POWERFUL, and EASY this project really is! (Great job to U of Pittsburgh!) Now, let's make Region 8's voice heard! ABSOLUTE deadline is July 27th but submissions made before July 10th will be considered for a feature in the July 15th President's Newsletter!
