Attend a Board of Directors Meeting
The BOD meets quarterly to make important business decisions on behalf of the SNMA membership that will provide direction for organization with the goal of taking SNMA to the next level of leadership. Such decisions include staffing structure, budgetary considerations, and programmatic agendas. The BOD has fiduciary responsibility for the corporate well-being of SNMA. All SNMA members are entitled to attend BOD meetings. BOD meetings help to prepare future national SNMA leaders transition into their roles as future BOD members.
Leadership Development
Board meetings are also a time for learning more about SNMA and becoming great leaders at the local, regional, and national levels. Board meetings may also feature leadership development workshops. Workshops for chapter and regional members and officers are coordinated by the BOD to provide pertinent information that can improve the functionality of chapters and regions, as well as prepare local and regional leaders to become effective national leaders.
Bring the BOD to your Campus!
SNMA recognizes the strength of its local chapters and has offered its support of these chapters by holding Board of Directors meetings at local chapter institutions. Local chapter institutions have hosted BOD meetings because they believe in SNMA’s mission to increase the number of underrepresented minorities in medicine. This mutual show of support has fostered stronger relationships between SNMA and academic medical administrations and has brought a new-found respect for SNMA chapters on their local campuses. If you would like to bring the Board of Directors to your campus, submit a Request for Proposal.
