Welcome to SNMA Region IV

"Region IV: Encouraging and Supporting SNMA's future physicians in becoming today's leaders"

Greetings Region IV! It is such an honor and a pleasure to serve as your 2014-2016 Region IV Director.

Networking and collaboration are some of the most important benefits in which our SNMA organization provides for its members. This effort will be further enhanced through work with our parent organization, the National Medical Association (NMA), as well as our undergraduate organization, Minority Association of Pre-medical Students (MAPS). We want to continue working to expand the networking and interaction between our regional NMA, SNMA and MAPS chapters and plan to facilitate creating a collaborative environment where ideas can be efficiently exchanged between the various groups.

In an effort to promote cultivation and growth of future physician leaders, our pipeline programs are a great way to reach SNMA's goal of matriculating more minority students into medical school and thus diversifying medicine. Region IV believes in taking strides to strengthen the educational and mentoring pipeline, foster academic and scientific interest as our members progress from college to physicians and to facilitate students' exposure to health careers. This ultimately works to increase the number of culturally sensitive and capable health professions thus making our Region stronger and wiser.

Community service is the "heart and soul of SNMA". We will continue to implement community service protocols Region-wide, which will include a Fall and Spring Regional Community Service Day. On this day, all Chapters will participate in a community service project in their local areas. Region IV members are dedicated to giving back to the local community and with keeping with the national SNMA spirit of making a difference in the world around us via leaving a positive presence and influence in our local areas.

Finally, Region IV is always looking for diligent, hard-working, and innovative student leaders whom can further enhance the goals of the region. If you are interested in serving Region IV, please click HERE to find email addresses for the Regional Officers. They can explain their responsibilities and duties and direct you towards becoming a more integral part of Region IV. Furthermore, they can share with you all the treasures to be gained from participation and service in Region IV and the SNMA.

Thank you for visiting our Fabulous Region IV Website! We look forward to a successful year working with you!

Yours in Service,
Camilla L. Mills
