Region VI Conference 2018

It is with great pleasure that we announce the 2018 Student National Medical Association (SNMA) Region VI Regional Medical Education Conference! This year, our conference will be hosted by Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine in Richmond, VA on Saturday, November 17, 2018 from 8:00am to 4:30pm. The title for the conference is "Beyond the White Coat: Wielding Policy to Enhance Health Equity". This theme will create greater awareness about how the United States health care system works, elaborating on the ways physicians and health administration personnel can navigate the world of health policy to ensure patients receive clinically excellent care.

The conference offers both medical and pre-medical students the chance to build professional relationships with their fellow future physicians. In addition to educational workshops that will contribute to the professional development of pre-medical and medical students alike, other conference workshops will focus on personal development as well as leadership development.

Dear Program Director,

We bring greetings on behalf of Region VI of the Student National Medical Association (SNMA) and are happy to inform you of our annual Regional VI Conference, which will be held at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine on Saturday, November 17, 2018. We are excited to invite you to participate in this year's conference by representing your program in our Exhibitors' Fair and by advertising your program in our conference booklet. We foresee this conference being an excellent opportunity for you to recruit minority undergraduate premedical and medical students from Maryland, D.C. and Virginia for summer programs, internships, fellowships and similar endeavors, while providing students information necessary to achieve their overall goals.
Established in 1964, the SNMA is the nation's oldest and largest student-run organization that addresses the concerns and needs of students of color. This organization is committed to increasing the number of underrepresented minorities in medicine, targeting health disparities through community service initiatives, and sustaining academic enrichment programs for minority youth in the community. In addition, the SNMA aims to develop clinically excellent, culturally competent and socially conscious physicians. Today, the SNMA has grown to a body of over 9,000 members at medical institutions across the country. Region VI of the SNMA encompasses Maryland, Virginia, and Washington D.C., and it represents one of the largest membership segments in our organization.
Our annual regional conference is the largest gathering of underrepresented minority medical students, premedical students, and physicians in the DC-MD-VA region. This year's theme is Beyond the White Coat: Wielding Policy to Enhance Health Equity.
Each year we reserve time in our conference schedule for the Exhibitor Fair to provide programs such as yours with the chance to commence meaningful relationships with promising minority students from this region. Throughout the conference students will be able to view the exhibition foyer at their leisure. We also invite you to advertise your program in the booklet that will be distributed to all attendees at the conference.

Please do not hesitate to contact any of us directly if you have any questions. To help us plan appropriately for the conference, please RSVP both if you will be able or unable to participate in this year's conference by November 2, 2018.

NOTE: All Sponsorship registration and payments must be received by November 2nd, 2018 to ensure that advertisements are included in the conference booklet and printed prior to the conference. Late registration (Nov. 3-9) does not include any advertisement options.

SNMA Region VI is enthusiastic about the upcoming 2018 Regional Medical Education Conference, and we eagerly look forward to your response in hopes of your participation.
