The Student National Medical Association holds medical education and leadership conferences nationwide throughout the year.
In an effort to provide our members with an exclusive experience in leadership, the National Leadership Institute (NLI) is held every quarter alongside the Board of Directors meeting. Members and officers are trained in transferrable skills that they can take with them to future leadership positions. NLI workshops include medicine, business, management, and programming.
The Annual Medical Education Conference (AMEC) is SNMA's premier event where 1200 medical and pre-medical students gather at the nation's most diverse medical education conference.
Each year, the SNMA President's Executive Agenda may include programmed events that are focused on supporting the mission of the SNMA. Please continue to visit us as these events unfold!
Annual Medical Education Conference (AMEC)
Student National Medical Association will host its 52nd Annual Medical Education Conference (AMEC) on March 23-27, 2016 in Austin, Texas. AMEC will engage its members in discussions around Mental Health: Facing the Challenges of the 21st Century as we strive to addess the role of mental health in today's society.
We will again tackle the topic of African-American men entering the field of medicine, with a focus this year on advocacy. The lack of diversity in medicine has grave impacts in patient care, especially with available mental health services. Workshops will provide and develop tangible skills that are applicable to both our personal lives and professional careers, as we work together to address these issues. This year's conference will continue to support current and future underrepresented minority medical students, address the needs of our underserved communities, and train socially conscious physicians.
