Annual Medical Education Conference
Austin, Texas - March 23-27, 2016 -- The Student National Medical Association will celebrate the 52nd Annual Medical Education Conference (AMEC) on March 23-27, 2016 in Austin, Texas. Entitled, Mental Health: Facing the Challenges of the 21st Century, our 2016 Annual Medical Education Conference (AMEC) will empower attendees to critically address the role of mental health in today's society.
In response to recent social events, AMEC will provide education on integrated care and highlight the effects of social determinants on mental health. Equally important, we will tackle the paucity of African-American men entering the field of medicine, with a focus on advocacy. The lack of diversity in medicine has grave impacts in patient care, especially with available mental health services.
Workshops will thus provide and develop tangible skills that are applicable to both our personal lives and professional careers, as we work together to address these issues. This year's conference will continue to support current and future underrepresented minority medical students, address the needs of our underserved communities, and train socially conscious physicians.
More information will be available in the coming months about AMEC 2016 offerings.
