SNMA Annual Medical Education Conference
The 45th SNMA Annual Medical Education Conference (AMEC) was held in New Orleans, Louisiana, April 8-12, 2009. Over 1,500 students and professionals from all parts of the country and abroad gathered for a wide range of educational and networking events. The AMEC is consistently the largest gathering of underrepresented minority medical students at any time of the year in any place in the country.
This year’s theme Healthcare Advocacy: From Practice to Politics, guided members to be leaders in medicine and healthcare activists in their communities. Educational workshops tracks were developed for medical students, pre-medical students, researchers, and alumni, which focused on healthcare legislation, advocacy, preparing students for the challenges of applying and matriculating in medical school and for careers as a physician-researcher.
Be sure to mark your calendar for March 31 – April 4, 2010 to join us in Chicago, Illinois for the 46th AMEC.
